My name is Mercedes Cuevas. I enjoy working with people who are done feeling stuck in the same old patterns that leaves them feeling used, hurt, and negative towards themselves. Change of any kind is hard and we are taught to minimize pain and underestimate our own abilities, making meaningful changes feel impossible and lonely.
This cycle often shows up in people's life as
-
being unable to kick a habit or unhealthy coping
-
difficulty connecting with others
-
self-sabotaging, self-harm or suicidality
-
poor self-esteem and self-worth
-
feeling unsatisfied with family life and partnerships.
I can offer a safe place to identify re-occurring patterns while feeling validated and capable of change with new skills and resources. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families across all stages of life. My approach is rooted in understanding your unique needs and inner drive, combining systemic and holistic perspectives. I’m trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, and I draw from techniques in Motivational Interviewing, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My passion lies in truly connecting with you, building trust, and identifying the interventions and modalities that resonate most deeply. Once a foundation of stability is established through better coping skills and evidence-based techniques, we’ll equip you with practical tools to manage emotions, cultivate greater peacefulness in your life, and transform unhelpful patterns. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, people of all ethnicities, gender-identities, sexual-orientation, nationality, and abilities are welcome.
