ABOUT
Mercedes Cuevas, MA, LMHC
Mission & Vision
I love to work with individuals who are ready to move beyond the cycles that leave them feeling stuck, used, hurt, and disconnected from their true selves. Change is hard—especially when we’re taught to minimize pain and doubt our own strength. That’s why meaningful transformation can feel both impossible and lonely.
These patterns often show up as:
• Unhealthy coping mechanisms or habits
• Difficulty forming or maintaining connections
• Self-sabotage, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts
• Low self-esteem and dissatisfaction in relationships or family life
It's been a privilege to be supporting individuals and families across all stages of life. My approach is rooted in understanding your unique needs and inner drive, blending systemic and holistic perspectives. I’m trained in:
• Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
• Trauma informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (T-CBT)
• Person-Centered Therapy
I also integrate techniques from:
• Motivational Interviewing
• Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
• Play Therapy and Art Therapy
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
At the heart of my work is genuine connection. I believe in building trust and tailoring interventions to what resonates most deeply with you. Once we establish a foundation of stability through evidence-based techniques, I’ll help you develop practical tools to manage emotions, foster peace, and transform unhelpful patterns—so you can live a more fulfilling life. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, people of all ethnicities, gender-identities, sexual-orientation, nationality, and abilities are welcome.
I’m currently in the process of getting paneled with insurance providers, so for now I’m offering self-pay only. I offer both therapy sessions for healing and emotional growth, and coaching sessions for folks wanting to build confidence in parenting, navigate relationship changes, or strengthen self-esteem. I also offer a sliding scale to help make care more accessible—just reach out and we can talk through what works best for you.

Services
I offer both therapy sessions for healing, overcoming intergenerational trauma, and emotional growth, as well as coaching sessions for folks wanting to build confidence in parenting, navigate relationship changes, or strengthen self-esteem.
There’s so much happening in our world right now, and I see how deeply it’s affecting people — especially those navigating the immigration system or facing detention.
Northwest Immigrant Rights Project provide critical legal representation to immigrants in Washington State — including asylum seekers, families, and survivors of violence. If you would like to also help support free legal counsel to those in need, please show your receipt of a donation to NWIRP for a 10% Discount on your next session.

Individual Therapy for Adults, Youths, and Children
I offer personalized therapy sessions to support adults and youth navigating life transitions, grief, trauma, addiction, and late developmental diagnoses such as ADHD. Whether you're adjusting to medical or career changes, processing relational shifts, or seeking clarity after a diagnosis, therapy provides a space to heal and grow. DBT group or skills coaching sessions may be added to support emotional regulation and reduce danger to self or others.
For younger clients, sessions focus on building emotional resilience and self-worth through engaging in creative evidence-based approaches—helping prevent the development of unhealthy coping patterns.

Family and Couples Therapy
Many people face challenges in accessing appropriate resources and right level of care, particularly in the realm of parenting and family therapy for complex issues such as childhood trauma, behavioral issues, school avoidance, difficulty communicating, and navigating different abilities. Parenting coaching sessions and DBT skills coaching may also be added for behavioral needs and safety concerns. My goal is to help families and couples regain intimacy, solve problems, and give guidance to make a to a sustainable change for themselves and their communities.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills Group and Life Coaching
DBT skills give people tools to balance acceptance of the things that we cannot change and work on the things we can. these strategies for regulating our emotions work well for anyone needing to grow and increase kindness towards themselves, interpersonal skills, and tolerate uncomfortable situations. DBT skills group can also be an effective added layer of support to reduce unsafe behaviors and mood swings for teens and adults. Life coaching sessions in career, dating, parenting skills, and relationships are available, to guide individuals through decision-making, and personal growth challenges.
